Spunlace fabric shows high drape and softness. Due to this, spunlace nonwoven is preferred for the manufacture of various hygiene products like baby diapers/adult incontinence products and sanitary napkins. The softness of these products is due to the fact that entangled structures are more compressible than bonded ones and they have better mobility and partial alignment of fibers. There is also a relationship between absorbance capacity and hydroentangling energy used. An increase in hydroentangling energy results in a decrease in absorbency capacity and absorbency rate and the top surface evacuates liquid quickly and prevents liquid from leaking. Hydrophobic spunlace prevents water from going further down as it is used as the bottom sheet while hydrophilic spunlace is used as the top sheet as it absorbs all the liquid.
